For my first entry, I'd like to share my understanding of the vibratory state of matter, and how sound healing works to restore balance. We perceive matter and ourselves as being solid, yet we are far from it. All things in the known Universe, including our bodies, are vibrating at a particular frequency. Everything is made of particles that are in constant motion, and each part of us has it's own distinct vibration. For example, the cells that make up our liver have a particular frequency, much different than that of our heart, or kidneys. Although each part of us is vibrating at a different frequency, all the parts work together to bring a harmonious flow between all of our systems. Pretty complex and amazing when you think about it. Another way to look at it, is that our body, as a whole, is like an orchestra, and all the parts of us are different instruments. When all the instruments are tuned properly, there is harmony, and the orchestra sounds great. Conversely, when even one instrument is out of tune, and is in dissonance with the rest of the orchestra, then things don't sound so well. In my understanding, this is the nature of dis-ease, and the reasons for it's occurrence are too numerous to name here.
So, what to do about it? There are atleast hundreds of natural ways to restore balance and good health, and in most cases, a combination of therapies is likely fitting. Take the time to explore different modalities, and seek out the assistance from qualified practioners.
Why sound therapy? If one looks at most cultures throughout time, the one commonality in terms of healing and wellness is the use of sound, and I suspect there is very good reason for this, given my understanding that all matter is vibratory. When a person is exposed to natural, or healing sounds, any area within the body that is in a state of dis-ease, begins to shift to a vibration of well being and health. The rate of which a person heals will depend on their willingness to allow change, and will occur as quickly as that person is able to integrate the possible changes. This means that each person has the ability to experience profound transformations at a rate that fits their liking.
How does sound therapy work? There are many attributes that make sound such an effective therapy. For one, the healing sounds can help a person to reach a state of deep relaxation, thus allowing the natural healing process that our bodies possess to do it's “magic”. Secondly, the vibrations of healing sounds are felt deeply in the body, which is effective for getting us “out of our heads” (as analyzing our emotions often leads us to hang onto them rather than release them). On top of that, the healing sounds are great for shifting energetic patterns and emotional blockages that contribute to dis-ease in the body.
Once the body has been restored to an ideal state of wellness and harmony, ongoing exposure to healing sounds will assist in maintaining balance and good health, much the same as keeping the instruments within the orchestra tuned will maintain harmony and good vibrations.
I hope you enjoyed reading this entry, and I welcome any feedback that you feel to share.
Thank you, and be well.
